Cable Operators Offer Free Access to Asian Movies, Music and More in Celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Cox to debut Korean music video service TVK-Pop On Demand nationally May 1.

 

International Media Distribution (IMD) announced today that Comcast and Cox will provide select Asian movies, music and related content free of charge in recognition of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM) throughout the month of May. More than 11.5 hours of content will be offered directly to digital cable subscribers without a subscription during this time.

“We commend Comcast and Cox for their dedication to the Asian American community” said Scott Wheeler, Senior Vice President, International Media Distribution. “We are excited to showcase Bollywood Hits On Demand and Filipino On Demand to new audiences during this special viewing opportunity for APA Heritage Month.”

Programming highlights include: 

 

  • BOLLYWOOD HITS ON DEMAND (Hindi with English Subtitles): 2011 theatrical releases including Ra. One, the record-breaking Bollywood sci-fi blockbuster starring Shahrukh Khan & Kareena Kapoor as well as Rockstar, starring Ranbir Kapoor. Viewers can also catch special “Behind the Scenes” episodes of the making of both Ra. One and Rockstar, along with popular music videos from a selection of movies.

  • FILIPINO ON DEMAND (Tagalog and English): Hours of music, including concerts from The Company, Martin Nievera, Christian Bautista, Nina and Kamikaze, as well as special episodes from the popular MYX-Rated Live and MYX-Press Play.

 

Customer Access Information

Cox Access: Customers should go to On Demand’s FreeZone, and search any of the following categories for “Asian Heritage”: Music, Life and Home, Previews & Extras, and Top Picks.

Comcast Access: Customers should go to On Demand and search the Top Picks category for “Asian Heritage.” Additional music videos and concerts can also be found under Music, inside the Music Picks category under “Asian Heritage.”

In addition to allowing special access to featured content for APAHM, Cox will also launch TVK-Pop On Demand, a free video on demand service featuring the hottest Korean music videos in a variety of genres including electropop, hip hop, pop, rock and R&B. The service features 20 new music videos each month.

Comcast, which already offers TVK-Pop On Demand, will add over 100 Korean music videos in May to celebrate APAHM.
